Kansans score improves but still grade D in oral health
Kansas advances from a failing grade in 2000 to an average in 2001 per Oral Health America. About 60 percent of residents drink fluoridated water while 65 percent is the goal to raise the grade. The state kept Fs in child oral health and lack of a dental director, with only the oral health coalition earning an A. Hutchinson based fund led Healthy Teeth for Kansans since 1998. Gail Sloan of Lawrence retires after 16 years building a nationwide cooperative placing American Indian students in programs, honored at Haskell. Sloan, wife of Rep. Tom Sloan, spoke as Arch Wells praised her impact.
