A three member committee was named to present the resolution to Congress. Constitution and by laws for a permanent organization were adopted.
In Philadelphia a magistrate fined John H. Clark and John Goodman fifty dollars each for allowing Goodman’s eight year old daughter to sing in a public venue. The child was placed with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, but she was returned to her parents after a courtroom scene. Separately, the Association of Textile Fabrics raised twenty five thousand dollars to fund a textile art school.
The Providence Board of Aldermen ordered quarantine of a vessel arriving from Baltimore this afternoon. The Paine and Packet mill estate sold for 102000 dollars, eight thousand five hundred twenty five dollars over the mortgage, purchased by John T Fisk.

In Louisville Kentucky on January 30 Christ Denhauser aged 50 was found dead in bed this morning. He was described as a chronic drunkard and was last seen drunk on Monday night.

Renault and others attacked Floquet measures as threats to liberty while contending the Republic must defend itself amid rising tension inside the Chamber and questions about nominating a Prince as President.
Okla colonists numbering about fifty depart from Coffeyville Kansas to Indian Territory rally with Capt Payne and others. They plan to enter the Oklahoma lands February 1 with aims to found Boudinot City and publish a newspaper. Government interception unlikely, they say, unless troops appear.
A New York report based on a statement from a leading railroad figure says Van derbilt will introduce a new fast schedule for the New York to San Francisco run. The plan trims New York to Chicago to 24 hours, Chicago to Omaha to 15, and Omaha to Ogden to 23, with overall New York to San Francisco time dropping from about 6 days to about 4 1/3 days, saving 84 hours total.
In dense fog off Norfolk on January 30 the steamer Loran collided with the Grace causing the Grace to sink. Passenger R H Wood drowned while in Norfolk shopping for a wedding outfit. Other passengers escaped serious injury though Jas W Robinson of Bremen sustained severe injuries.
