Smokestack to help keep Hutchinson fires in check
In Hutchinson Kansas a planned two 40 foot smokestacks will be erected to vent burning natural gas leaking from underground fissures after an explosion destroyed Decor Wedding and Party Supplies. Kansas Gas Service and Cudd Pressure Control aim to place the stack by Sunday to keep gas burning higher and reduce wind extinguishing risk. Local businesses face ongoing danger and evacuation as crews attempt venting via wells and new sites with limited success.
