Gov George Docking recommends a Kansas University budget for fiscal 1960 with no faculty salary increases, cutting total EU expenditures to 15 182 218 from 15 317 603. The plan preserves minor raises via civil service cuts while limiting salaries and highlighting a projected shortfall in education and general funding.
Gov George Docking unveiled a 45 886 579 operating budget for eight Kansas colleges and universities for the coming year. He rejected general salary increases until a board administered pay plan for unclassified ranks is set, while approving 983 912 in major faculty raises to cover civil service steps and new positions.
Preliminary plans by the American Legion baseball committee for the Pancake Day feed set for March 7. In Douglas County 1959 deer season starts unofficially with motorists striking deer. Eddie Cain hit two does near Lakeview Road and picked up the carcasses for delivery to a state game protector. About 12 deer were killed in the area in late 1958, with the Lakeview herd likely the only local one.

The Negro youth will not be eligible for freshman games this year but may be eligible for Varsity action next year in the second semester. Correll was an All City basketball player and quarterback in football and graduated high school mid year.
