Jones May Face Manslaughter Charge In Kellogg Death
Olathe Kansas January 26 county attorney John Anderson Jr said he would file a manslaughter charge against W C y Jones an Olathe lawyer in the death of Miss Dorothy Kellogg 31 a secretary. A coroner s jury ruled the death accidental and not unlawful. Kellogg died after a car driven by Jones ran into a ditch and she was pinned between the door and front seat. The attorney said evidence did not warrant a judicial determination. Jones’ lawyer Howard E Payne rejected the charge noting the jury’s verdict. The coroner s pathologist Dr Victor Buhler testified Kellogg died from about twenty blows to the head and extensive alcoholism. He said blunt force caused internal injuries and that Kellogg’s head was jammed against the door as the car tilted toward a dirt embankment. The jury deliberated 25 minutes. Jones is a former state representative and former state chairman of the Kansas Young Republicans.
