Admiral Robert E. Coontz dies after heart attack in Bremerton
Bremerton Washington January 26 AP Admiral Robert E Coontz aged 71 retired former commander in chief of the United States fleet died here this morning after a heart attack. He had suffered multiple attacks in recent months and spent more than two months at Puget Sound navy yard hospital. He was born in Hannibal Missouri in 1864 and graduated from Hannibal college and the U S Naval Academy. He rose to rear admiral and became full admiral in 1919 retiring in 1928. He served as commandant of midshipmen at Annapolis governor of Guam commandant of Puget Sound navy yard and of the fifth naval district. He married Augusta Cohen of Sitka Alaska. survived by Mrs Coontz and a daughter Bertha. sons Benton and Kenneth died.
