Income Tax Reform Aims to Halt Personal Loss Deductions
Washington reports Senate Ways and Means evidence shows new tax plan to curb losses offsetting income. It would restrict capital losses from wiping out income and shift burden toward higher earners. Proposals include joint returns, a four percent rate up to four thousand dollars, seven to ten percent surcharges, and a flat four percent rate with brackets rising to over four thousand. Major changes aim to raise about 1.265 billion dollars for the 1935 fiscal year.
