Dillinger Gangsters Taken in Tucson by Police
Four leaders of the Dillinger gang known for killings and bank robberies were captured in Tucson without a shot fired. John Dillinger, Harry Pierpont, Russell Clark, and Charles Makley were identified after an alert fireman recognized them from a detective magazine. The group, once fugitives from Michigan City prison, carried about $36,000 in cash and diamonds, plus an arsenal of weapons, and were cornered with three women associates.
