Drugs plan to drop major retailers for county workers
Douglas County will switch its drug benefit plan to MedTrak on February 1 after failing to reach terms with ReStat. Beneficiaries, about 600 employees, retirees, and agency staff plus 600 family members, can use only Lawrence area pharmacies such as Dillon's, Hy Vee, Jayhawk, Medical Arts, Sigler, plus Byrne's in Eudora and Roberts in Baldwin City. Large chains like Walmart Walgreens and Target will be excluded. 24 hour emergency access remains possible at local pharmacies. The county seeks savings though exact figures are not yet known.

Road work plan blocks several major Kansas routes this week
Kansas Turnpike will close the East Lawrence interchange for seven months starting March 22 to rebuild the area at North Second and Locust streets. North Second will have southbound traffic with one lane closed and northbound traffic diverted via Elm North Third Locust and Union Pacific tracks. Detours and slow traffic are expected through spring as work advances on U S Highway 59 between Lawrence and Ottawa along with bridge construction along Douglas and Franklin County segments.
