Sheriff weighs jail changes after escapee added to KBI list
Kansas Bureau of Investigation added Russell Baston to its Most Wanted list on Tuesday. Baston, 27, of Lawrence, escaped Douglas County Jail Sunday after overpowering a corrections officer during medication distribution and breaking through a locked perimeter door. Sheriff Loren Anderson said eight deputies were assigned to the case as leads remained scarce and jail changes, including perimeter lock upgrades and medication distribution procedures, were being explored. Call 841-0007 or 1-800 KS CRIME or 843-TIPS with information.
