Bert Seeley, a famed Arizona cowboy, allegedly opened fire at a Beatty camp on the New Southern Pacific line eight miles from Montezuma Sonora. He killed six laborers in a single act, reportedly claiming self defense. The incident occurred near Montezuma, with Mesiceo and Douglass mentioned in connection. The Ottawa YMCA membership committee plans a new campaign during the February convention in Ottawa to recruit three hundred crew members in two days.
