The setting sun on a restless American mood

The narrator reflects on mood swings and a tight job market fueling anxiety about money. A man drives toward the sunset as his wife suggests navigation, while the nation’s drama—the Arctic melt and Iraq, democracy, and a symbolic SUV led by whimsy—echoes in the background. Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion airs Saturday nights on public radio, including KANU.
