No New Gas Wells Prohibited in Hugoton Field
Washington January 28 The petroleum administration barred drilling of new gas wells in the Hugoton field spanning southwestern Kansas and the Oklahoma panhandle. The order blocks materials for drilling completing or adding to any well in several Kansas counties and Texan county Oklahoma with possible exceptions. Deputy administrator Ralph K Davies noted about 330 wells currently produce natural gas and pipelines are at capacity. Until new lines are built it is not in the public war interest to mobilize scarce materials for wells whose output cannot reach consumers due to transport limits. Wells in Hugoton serve eastern Kansas and the midwest including Omaha Minneapolis St Paul Detroit and beyond.

Volunteers are sought to cut fold and wrap 109000 surgical dressings for the armed forces. Weekly classes run Monday to Thursday from 930 am to 430 pm at the Central building of the Junior high school with a special Monday evening class.
