Highway funds held back to curb inflation
Washington AP Secretary of Transportation Alan Boyd said 600 million dollars in federal highway money will be withheld in 1968 to fight inflation. The plan cuts the 1967 obligation level by five percent, keeping total obligational level at 4.115 billion while highway construction slows. The move does not affect the highway budget since funds come from the gasoline tax and must stay in the highway trust fund.
