Totten hardware and Gregg & Elliott shoe dealers. Water floods left stock badly damaged. total loss about 100000 with 85000 insured.
Fire strikes O'Brien & Son hardware on Massachusetts
Fire at 732 Massachusetts Street Bubat ha destroyed rear of the O'Brien & Son building, with stock and roof losses estimated at 2000 and 1500 dollars, both insured. The blaze began shortly after 2 am in the tin shop, spread to upper floors, but was brought under control in about 45 minutes by water from hydrants and the city works. The building, owned by George Beharer, housed hardware, tin shop, and Leonard's tailor shop. origin unknown but suspected in the tin shop. Witnesses and officials note strong water streams and diligent firemen efforts. several local residents gathered as emergency crews fought the flames.
