Lawrence Public Library Reopens at Temporary Borders Space
The Lawrence Public Library reopens Tuesday at 9 am in the former Borders building at Seventh and New Hampshire after a two week closure. Staff decorate with balloons and offer cookies and punch for opening day as work continues on an $18 million expansion to the permanent site at Seventh and Vermont. The temporary layout mirrors a bookstore feel with an old checkout counter and information desk while adding new services and the same events, including children's storytime, during the transition.
