Thos H Kennedy Jr died of pneumonia at Camp Logan in Houston Texas last Friday after enlisting in June 1918 as a first class private in Co C Signal Corps. He served at Fort Leavenworth before moving to Camp Logan and returned home for Christmas. His funeral is set for tomorrow at 2 30 in the Lutheran Church with Dr Stauffer officiating. Kennedy was born in Lawrence December 28 1904 and was known as Little Tom among local paper staff and carrier boys. Corporal Bert Sumsion accompanied the family as military escort.

Starrett Son Returns Home from War Service
He Racks Governor Jne Starrett son of Mr and Mrs John M Starrett has received his discharge and is now home after service in the Argonne forest where he was wounded gassed and hospitalized four months. He arrived at Newport News on December 30 and was sent to Funston. He served in Medical Corps 137th after enlisting from Lawrence and backs Governor Allen on support for the 35th Division.

Ed Charlton Dead Fire Insurance Leader In Lawrence
Prominent Lawrence resident and fire insurance head Ed Charlton died after a brief illness linked to the recent death of his youngest son in France. Born in Princeton Illinois he moved to Kansas in 1867 and led a family business started by his father Judge John Charlton fifty years ago. Charlton was active in fraternal orders including the Odd Fellows Grand Lodge and chaired the State Convention Committee. He leaves his wife Carrie Belle and two sons Glenn and Theodore plus four sisters. Funeral planned Wednesday at 2:30 PM at the Christian Church.
