Judge closes hearing in murders in Ottawa case
Franklin County Judge Thomas H. Sachse granted a two hour closed evidentiary hearing next month in the capital murder case of Kyle T. Flack who is accused of killing four people including an 18 month old child in rural Ottawa last year. The judge also approved the state's motion to endorse 829 additional witnesses in the case led by Deputy Attorney General Victor J. Braden with Franklin County Attorney Stephen Hunting participating. Defense attorney Ron Evans of the Kansas Death Penalty Defense Unit did not object to closing the Feb 13 hearing but fears publicity could prompt a change of venue.
