Cleopatra myth debunked by Egyptologist in Cairo
Egyptologist Robert Bianchi of the Brooklyn Museum argues Cleopatra VII was ordinary in appearance and Greek in dress, but her intelligence and hosting charm made her a formidable queen. He situates her as the last of Macedonian rulers who shaped Egypt and links her fate to Caesar and Antony, noting Rome's view of opulence and her gendered challenges. The piece blends scholarly critique with a culinary aside about a tangy noodle salad.
