Falun Gong holds Hong Kong conference despite crackdown
Falun Gong, banned in Beijing, gathered about 1,200 followers including 700 overseas attendees from 23 countries at Hong Kong City Hall. Adherents pledged to persevere, citing 120 torture killings and urging Beijing to allow free practice in China while pro-Beijing outlets criticized Li Hongzhi. Hong Kong officials stressed lawful access to City Hall for the event.
