Kansas coach Dick Harp said senior forward Ron Loneski is unlikely to play Saturday in Norman after a ankle sprain against Missouri. Loneski has missed practices since and Harp doubts the injury will heal in time for the matchup.
LHS gym instructor L R Perry will take five club members John Dicker Mike Zwink Alexander Ed Scribner and Larry Englehaupt to Topeka to demonstrate gymnastics for Topeka physical education teachers. KHSA interest may promote a statewide program with a second demo planned next week.
Otha Hatfield and the Kansas Oil Men's Association, speaking at its Wichita convention, oppose any increase in federal or state gasoline taxes. They urge refunding 1.5 billion of 3.6 billion collected for highway use and protest current tax levels on gasoline and motor oil, calling for funds to stay with highway construction.

Logan a 27 year old farmer killed his family housekeeper Miss Mary Seller about 60 then shot himself with the same gun on their farm near Williamsburg Ottawa Kansas Investigators Trooper R J Conaty and Sheriff Max Gilmore said no motive could be found and the victim had served the family for over two decades on the Logan farm near Ottawa
Boeing Airplane Co. fired Robert P. Scallorn a Kansas House member after he failed to disclose arrests in 1946 and 1950 on his job application. Scallorn a Democrat had served five years at Boeing and returned to Topeka for today’s legislative session. details of the charges and dispositions were not disclosed.
Henry A. Bubb of Topeka capitalized savings leader and KU graduate has been elected as new board chairman of the Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation. He is among national leaders trusted with board control and brings past experience as president of the U.S. Savings and Loan League and former chairman of its legislative committee.
Lawrence P. Stroda, 67, of Route 1 near Lawrence, was found dead Wednesday evening on his farm from natural causes. He had spent most of the day clearing rocks. Survivors include wife Etta, two sons Edmond and Raymond, a daughter Marie Wilson, six brothers, six sisters, and eight grandchildren. Funeral arrangements to be announced by Cooper-Warren Mortuary.
