Auto tax stamps go on sale at post offices nationwide
Federal use tax stamps for automobiles went on sale this morning at the post office with 5000 stamps received by 9 o clock. The $2.09 stamps are required for all machines after February 1 and valid through June 30, after which $5 stamps will be issued. Rep Ed Abels bought the first stamp at downtown and Chancellor Deane Malott at University post office. Each buyer gets a card to mail to the collector of internal revenue with detailed vehicle information. Postmasters say stamps will be available at all county post offices.
