Growing Healthy curriculum aided by volunteers in Lawrence
Volunteers from Extension Homemaker Units 4-H and Pilot clubs helped create thousands of handmade teaching materials for Lawrence elementary schools. The program uses multi media tools rather than textbooks, with kits rotating between schools. District staff estimate volunteer work saved at least $18,600, while dissections and hands on activities engage students across grade levels.
