Potucek backs Anderson as election campaign begins
State Senator John Potucek of Wellington praised Anderson and offered a rabbit's foot, saying those who start a campaign on Friday the 13th must be fearless. Anderson, a first term representative, blasted Gov. Frank Carlson's administration as totalitarian and attacked the liquor control bill. He criticized state election institutions, housing conditions, and a 50 year old financial system with millions lost to leakage. He supported severance tax on gas, repeal of the state property tax, and received a $500 campaign fund gift from McPherson Anderson for Governor club chair Rozelia Switzer. Anderson, a Navy veteran, owns land across Lyon Morris and Chase counties, plus businesses including an oil agency, grain elevators, alfalfa mills, a grocery, and a produce house.

Work in the Field Deputies Not Always in Offices
Internal Revenue deputy collectors, based in the st office building, spend most of their time outside the office. They travel to assist taxpayers and prepare income tax reports, such as a recent trip to Valley Falls in Jefferson county. The offices, under a federal weekday schedule, are not open Saturdays, contributing to missed calls and locked doors for taxpayers.
