Vermont judge faces calls to resign over lenient 60 day sentence
Vermont judge Edward Cashman has been attacked by conservatives after he sentenced Mark Hulett, 34, to 60 days for sexual contact with a girl beginning at age six. Critics say the term was too light, while Cashman cited treatment needs and the offender’s limited mental maturity. The state later said Hulett could be treated immediately, with prosecutors seeking a longer sentence.
