Douglas County judge gave Christopher Coty Maier probation for two years after he pleaded no contest to conspiracy in the December 2010 Walmart robbery at 3300 Iowa. Maier, 24, missed sentencing, was arrested on a bench warrant, and faces 16 months if probation is violated while required drug and alcohol treatment is completed.
Lawrence police arrested 24 year old Joshua M. Jeffcoat after a social gathering at Mississippi Street left a 26 year old man injured and a vehicle stolen. The vehicle was later found in Ottawa and Jeffcoat was charged with aggravated battery and felony theft. Bond set at 4000 dollars with a court date in January. Jeffcoat also faced a 2011 domestic battery warrant and a Lawrence Municipal Court traffic warrant.
A 52-year-old Lawrence man was arrested for battery of a nurse at Lawrence Memorial Hospital early Tuesday morning, per police and sheriff records. A 33-year-old Lawrence woman reported a criminal firearm discharge on Alabama Street. A 21-year-old Lawrence man reported his $1,000 Rinο motorbike stolen between noon and 11 p.m. Monday on Ohio Street.
