Hutchinson city officials will receive reports Tuesday on developments since the natural gas explosions a year ago that destroyed two downtown businesses and a mobile home and killed both occupants. Lee Allison of the Kansas Geological Survey and Ron Hammerschmidt of the Health Department will present findings on how leaking gas traveled through fractured dolomite to reach Hutchinson. The vent-well program drilled fifty seven wells with seven striking gas and three still venting small amounts. Allison noted a $3 to $4 million study may follow to pinpoint the gas pathway and geology.
