Mrs Harriette Starkey 56 a former Lawrence resident died Sunday morning at the Kansas University Medical Center after a recent surgery. She served as past president of the Lawrence American Legion Auxiliary and was active in VFW Auxiliary and local civic life. Her husband George Starkey long worked in veterans affairs and led Lawrence Legion baseball teams. Services at Rumsey Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 30 p m with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Survivors: husband son John E Starkey a Chicago brother Everett W Nilles and granddaughter Melinda Joanne.
