Still Wilderness Dread Birdwatcher's Paradise
The Kansas University area known as West Hills Park is a three acre tract west of West Campus Road between Colonial Court and Emery Road. Developed by S. J. Hunter and owned by West Hills Home Association, the park sits near Sigma Nu and a lake built by Gov. W. R. Stubbs. The area, once Indian and pioneer presence, has become a quiet wildlife refuge with trees, trails, and bird study by KU ornithology students. A future 114 unit luxury apartment at 10th and Emery is planned, with occupancy expected late summer or early fall.
