No Major Tax Reform Expected in 93rd Congress
Sen. Russell B. Long, chair of the Finance Committee, says the 93rd Congress likely will pass no major tax reform. He doubts revenue gains of 15 to 20 billion dollars, suggesting 1 to 2 billion possible from closing loopholes and notes a potential veto by President Nixon. Rep. Wilbur Mills echoes that any reform would not bring large cuts or big revenue.
