Crane Central at Platte River Draws Sandhill Cranes
Nebraska hosts the world’s largest sandhill crane concentration each March and April along the Platte River near Omaha. Fossil records show cranes in the state for over 9 million years as 500000 birds plus thousands of ducks and geese gather annually. Visitors can view from blinds and river sites, with more details and an audio slideshow available at LJWorld.com and in the Behind the Lens column on page 20 of Sunday’s Journal- World.
