1995 profits outlook tied to Fed rate moves
1994 proved strong for earnings with IBES and Zacks forecasting solid fourth quarter gains and 1995 growth around 12 to 14 percent as the Fed considers further rate hikes. Analysts caution higher rates may temper consumer spending and profits, despite robust auto and materials sectors and a continued economic expansion.

Energy upgrades boost output in mail, rivets, insurance, and retail
The Rocky Mountain Institute reports eight case studies showing energy efficient renovations raise productivity by 6 to 16 percent. Postal sorting in Reno, insurance offices in Wisconsin, Boeing aircraft plants, Lockheed engineers, and a Wal Mart in Kansas all saw productivity gains and in some cases large energy cost savings. The study emphasizes daylight, better lighting, and climate control as key drivers of both energy cuts and worker performance.
