Detectives say Lawrence figure helped plan a series of post office robberies across Kansas and Missouri. Roy Masters, nineteen, captured as location man with route maps. Special guards deterred a post office robbery while robbers targeted a passenger train.
Kansas University basketball beat the Town Aggies in Ames Iowa by 29 to 22 yesterday afternoon. The Kansas players showed fast, accurate shooting and strong teamwork amid a lively crowd. A rematch was scheduled for this afternoon on the Ames court.
The stockholders of the World Company held a past night meeting. Board directors AW. C. Simons Mrs. Gertrude R. Sintons Miss Thanche Simons and Fe Wilder and Hugh Means were elected. The directors then organized and elected W. A. Simons president and treasurer, Wilder vice president, and Hugh Means secretary.
Police report indicates no trace of Hadley or Tobe since a residence search conducted several nights ago. Authorities seek information on Hadley’s whereabouts and reason for absence, with German text suggesting tasks remain unexplained. Further updates pending.

The Lawrence High School basketball team lost to an alumni squad 33 to 26 in a rough contest at the high school gym. Standout play came from Wilson and Lawrence, former LH S players, as Uhrlaub Gibson Todd and Wilson powered the alumni win. The freshmen lineup featured Woodward Lupher Laslett Gress Glahn Draper. End of half score was 15 to 12 in favor of the alumni.
Last night William Farnum starred in The Sign of the Cross and the production drew praise for its quality. Review notes strong costuming and fine acting, calling the film educational and well presented for its era.
The First Regimental Band under its leader prepared programs for the Topeka event Monday. About thirty members travel from Lawrence, with afternoon and evening concerts alongside the Second Regimental Band and a reception at the Capitol. The ensemble, largely same members as last fall, has held regular practices and showcases two strong programs featuring marches, overtures, selections, and festival pieces, including Elolmes, The Firefly, The Chocolate Soldier, Our Waving Colors, and Vienna Festival Overture.
At yesterday’s annual meeting the same officers and directors were re-elected with one change. W F E Spalding resigned as director of Goethe bank and Carl E Friend was elected to fill the vacancy. The Ways and Means Committee report notes bonds will be issued in $510 denominations after a special meeting. Bonds were previously $100, $500, and $1,000 and had been altered to satisfy Fidelity of Kansas City before being rejected. The board approved printing changes and discussed salaries and graduate listings, with about $5,500 in teacher salaries for the year.
Miss Evelyn Hayden returned from Waynesburg Kentucky where she has been teaching in a mission school serving mountain people. The class grows with adults up to age twenty one eager to learn in a free school run by unpaid teachers who must earn living while teaching.
Police track and arrest Aaron Patterson after a tip from Sheriff Cummins. Patterson reportedly quarreled with his life on the street and shot a woman before fleeing. He was found hiding by Sheriffs team yesterday, ending a manhunt that began May 14. Louis Mole and his wife Ida Hayden Mole depart for Costa Rica next week to serve as medical missionaries.
The Lord's Supper will be observed at the First Presbyterian Church at tomorrow morning's service. The session will meet at 9:15 a.m. for the reception of members.
Boys in the Junior Department invited to attend a Father and Son Supper at the association building on Friday the fifteenth. The event includes boys from the B and employed classes and free day classes. They are drilling for an avumnastic exhibition to entertain their fathers. The final program will be announced early next week.

C B Friend, a lumber dealer from Lawrence with wards in several Kansas towns, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Peoples State Bank, succeeding W J Spalding. His broad experience is expected to aid the bank in expanding its services and strengthening ties with the community.
J B Brock received a Ysautain pen for Christmas made from a Moonife compound used by Kansas University Inbera tovier. His son Frank Brock, a chemical engineer in Chicago, sent the pen and discussed its manufacturing use. The pen is transparent and its core contents are described. Richard Gleed was arrested on a theft warrant, pleaded guilty, and a $10 fine was imposed and paid.
In Lawrence a long civil case, Fraternal Aid Association vs American Bonding Company, opens Monday with Inde Smart visiting to clear unsettled matters. The dispute centers on $4100 mising from funds after former secretary Edmunds’ death, with referee W T Pleasant of Ottawa reporting findings and both sides filing exceptions.
