A spectacular blaze in Atlantic City caused up to 4 million dollars in damage as winds of 40 miles per hour fueled the fire for over four hours. The fire gutted the St Charles Hotel theater shops and three large frame hotels and numerous boarding houses along the boardwalk, with nine near structures damaged. Eighteen people including first responders were slightly hurt. The cause remains undetermined.
