Shelters operate 24 hours as ice weather continues
Bosch-Hastings says the ice forced shelters to shift to 24 hour operation with overflow sites open. Temperatures remain frigid through the week as wind chills stay below zero, prompting ongoing use of warming facilities and library spaces. Community volunteers from churches and groups have aided meals and transport, with guest numbers rising above the 137 figure reported Sunday.
