Governor Seeks Bookkeeping Plan To Aid 1965 Budget
Gov. John Anderson said he will urge two controversial bookkeeping measures in the 1964 session to fund the 1965 fiscal year. The proposals, long opposed by Republicans, combine a sales tax with general funds and delay distribution of sales tax residue to local units. The plan could add about 7 to 8 million dollars to state finances and delay residue might yield around 123.5 million. He plans a budget without major tax increases if these measures are adopted.
