Kansas lawmakers push self governance for Haskell Nation
Kansas lawmakers Moran and Mann propose federal legislation to remove Haskell from BIE control and let the university govern itself while keeping federal funding. The plan would empower the Board of Regents to set policies, supervise departments, create new units, and appoint the president, with Interior oversight and a $21 million annual grant. Public feedback is requested by late February.
