Sailor Rescued After Stormy Ocean Ordeal Near South America

A Chilean navy search plane spotted American solo sailor Ken Barnes on his storm battered yacht off the southern tip of South America and a rescue trawler was en route. In Ramallah, Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen exchanged heavy fire during an arrest operation in the vegetable market. Two Palestinians were killed and 25 wounded. Separately, Hamas and Fatah fought in Gaza leaving two dead. Assailants attacked three senior Hamas officials in the West Bank kidnapping one, torching a car and firing in a mosque exit. The raid occurred as Olmert met Mubarak in Sharm el Sheikh seeking ways to restart Middle East peace talks stalled for over six years. Mubarak was reportedly open to a regional peace summit, though aides denied knowing of such a plan.
