Kansas plan aims to equalize school funding with modest local relief
A proposed 1.5 percent income tax would fund about 65 million dollars in statewide school aid, lowering local property taxes and mill levies. Lawrence District 497 may see small tax relief, while Eudora District 491 and Baldwin District 348 could gain up to twenty percent in budget. Officials cite statewide equity and caution about unresolved financing for special and vocational programs.
