Eisenhower Center Faces Challenge Attracting Kansas Visitors
Abilene officials push to boost Ike tourism as only 35 percent of Eisenhower Center guests come from Kansas. Attendance has dropped from 200000 yearly to 89000 last year, prompting a nine member commission led by John Neal to craft a modern public relations push and a bold new slogan. The museum renovations seek dynamic exhibits while critics urge more substantive coverage of Eisenhower's presidency and space program.
