A garbled street note lists multiple lawyers doctors and vendors in the Massachusetts Street area. It includes W Bis Brownell Barber & Means J E Riggs and others with offices in nearby buildings, plus a real estate and insurance angle and various trades from livery to gas fixtures.
Reports from Cape Hayden and Puerto Plata say forces loyal to Morales and Rodriguez fought all day with bayonets and swords. Dozens killed or wounded as Rodriguez massed outside the city and announced a possible bid for the presidency. Civil street battles also occurred as Morales supporters fired from windows.
A letter from Admiral Ka restvensky published with ministerial permission claims Britain planned to annihilate the Russian fleet if the Japanese victory faltered. He says Togo kept his dispositions secret and that even the allied British admiral did not know the full plan at Wei Hai Wei.

Des Moines Jan 3 The coroner's jury holds Mrs L I Carr responsible for her husband s death in a Calwern hotel Sunday. Carr was found with a bullet wound and the woman also suffered two dangerous wounds. She is under arrest at the hospital.
In Topeka on January 3, the motion to quash the land fraud indictments was ordered placed on the docket by Harry Bone, the new U S district attorney. The cases, tied to grand jury findings, will be argued at the federal court in Kansas City Kansas next Monday.

Misses Gretchen Raokin and Jane Adams went to Kansas City. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pardee returned to Kansas City after a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Kumler. Miss Grace Taylor entertained the Four Oclock club at her home on Ohio Street. charades and games were enjoyed, honoring Miss Josephine Clark of St. Joe. The Foster Whit Club met at Mrs. W. B. Green’s home. Miss Blanch Newmark returned from Osage City. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wheadon will return tomorrow from Sharpe, Kan. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snyder will leave for Hanover to make their future home. Mrs. S. B. Dolliday returned to Parsons after visiting her parents. Miss Nett Easter went to Kansas City for a two week visit. The Plymouth Congregational Church Christian Endeavor society will hold its regular monthly business meeting Thursday evening, January 4, at 7:30 at Miss Kate Caldwell’s home on Kentucky street. A large attendance is desired.
Berlin reports that on January 3 railway authorities placed orders for 20 000 dreighe cars with five-country manufacturers. Delivery by mid February is requested to support precautionary mobilization near the French frontier amid ongoing military movements. Officials insist Germany’s peaceful aims remain unchanged and readiness is prudent to preserve peace.
Frank E. Nelson a 25 year old book keeper at the Plumbing Supply House on Grand avenue reported two masked men assaulted him last night and attempted to force the safe. They then burned all company books and records in the furnace and escaped without taking any money.
In Indianapolis on January 3 a county court action was decided to compel Daniel E. Storms, the secretary of state, to vacate his office after he refused the governor’s demand to resign.
