Public safety agencies will upgrade to new technology this year with a 20 year old system replaced by a computer aided dispatch and records management system going live in August. Police chief Tarik Khatib says the system will pre program officer assignments including crisis training and mental health response. A GPS module will route officers by proximity to calls and Douglas County emergency communications will switch to a digital radio system linked with Johnson County for back up 911 and radio comms.
