Murderers of 10-Year-Old Anna Bell Williams Apprehended

Special to the Journal: Al Williams, 89, and Mrs. Jim Mayes, 21, are jailed in Topeka on murder charges in the case of Anna Bell Williams found near Eudora. Barry Holmes identified the body, and Williams allegedly plotted to place his daughter in a Missouri poor house with Mayes’s help. Both suspects deny guilt. evidence points to Mayes as the killer and Williams through complicity.
