Blind Car Mechanic Succeeds in Maryland Shop
A blind 22 year old mechanic Bob Santo rebuilt automatic transmissions at a Glen Burnie shop. Owner Marvin Keyser says Santo works with speed comparable to sighted workers and all transmissions tested perform well. Santo uses braille scale torque wrench and feel based methods, born in Pittsburgh, trained in Kansas City, and considers blindness a challenge, not a limitation.
