Traces Indian tribe treasure hunt nears Colorado border
Captain Allen LeBaron, British archaeologist, travels through Tonopah Nevada on a quest to identify early inhabitants of the American continent. He plans to reopen turquoise mines and excavate to trace races from Boulder Canyon to eastern Nevada, noting evidence linking early Nevadan people to the Mayas of Yucatan. A notable find is a sacrificial grotto mask from Aztec Canyon, 45 miles south of Las Vegas. Separately a Mountain View cattle buyer misidentifies a porcupine as a bear, provoking a local hunt.
