Togetherness ends friendship over shared house venture
Four Washington area residents, Colin and Lynn Brown and Doug and Teresa Klear, bought a Fairfax County house together to beat high housing costs. After six months of tension over neatness, shared spaces, and control, they separated finances and moved out. The plan to buy out the other’s share within two years threatens potential loss of their $6,000 contributions if mortgage payments falter. They remain divided with no contact between the couples, yet three still view joint ownership as viable with stricter partner selection in the future.
