Jury selection continues in Bird murder trial
In Geary County, jurors are being selected for the murder trial of former minister Thomas Bird. He faces first degree murder charges in the 1983 shooting death of Martin K. Anderson in a farm field near Emporia. Lorna Anderson testified Bird was the gunman. she has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge. Bird already sits on life for his wife Sandra’s death and 212 to seven years for an earlier attempt on Anderson’s life. Prosecutors expected to begin presenting evidence midweek.
