Topeka February 2 A bill by Representative Scott of Rooks county seeks to revise the personnel of the state text book commission. The committee on education recommends passage. The proposed board would include the state superintendent the state printer four county and city superintendents two state board of education members a state board of agriculture member and one at large. The current board comprises presidents of the State Normal School and State Agricultural College the state superintendent the state printer president of the state board of agriculture and two at large members appointed by the governor.
Secretary of State Board of Health Dr S J Crumbine will be the guest of honor and principal speaker at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the Chamber rooms Tuesday night. He travels to Lawrence to address the Douglas County Medical Association on general health conditions and public health problems.

New York February 27 Lieut Gould son of George Gould received a commendation from Major General Joseph E. Kuhn for high efficiency as an observation officer during fighting in the Meuse Argonne region including Montfaucon. Kuhn's letter credits Gould with boosting morale and performing duties at great hazard after being inducted in 1917. Also notes Gould twice refused commissions during training at Camp Dix before promotion. Lloyd Duffee county engineer suffers severe leg injuries from a broken leg and bruising after an icy fall.
