More than one fourth of the state's area, 52,499,000 acres, across 105 counties, is leased. Rentals in the year ending Jan 1, 1938 totaled about 11.5 million dollars. In Kennett Missouri five hundred men were called for levee duty as the St Francis river crested about 1.1 feet overnight. A levee slide at Cardwell Missouri near the Arkansas line raised risk with a 1.15 foot rise and crest expected late tomorrow. The St Francis at St Francis Arkansas showed a 23.5 foot level yesterday while the river slowly fell elsewhere.
