Teachers discuss need for school referendum plans
Teachers and the school board weighed a possible referendum to supplement district funding. They cautioned that dollar figures depend on property valuations, legislative actions, and referendum success. Negotiations aim to settle 25 items, six major money issues, with upcoming sessions at the Administration Center.

U.N. Raises Put 75 Officials Over $75,000 a Year
The United States and the Soviet Union oppose the pay hike but 75 UN officials will now earn more than $75,000 annually. Six assistant secretaries-general rise to undersecretary-general with $10,000 increases, a new super undersecretary general will oversee economic problems at about $99,350, while Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim earns $110,650. The change lifts 35 to over $85,000 and 75 over $75,000, including nine Americans. Critics say the raises are excessive and not tied to added responsibilities, with debate tied to UN budget decisions and comparisons to national salaries.
